#69 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: ASIFA's Naughty Pinup Cartoons and Illustration Collection

The sketch to the left is a preliminary outline for a cartoon piece by Bill Wenzel. It is only a fraction of the treasure chest which is the ASIFA Animation Archive. ASIFA is all about animation, cartoon and illustration history, but for us- pinup lovers- there’s also a huge collection of classical and cartoon pinups. For a little pinup history education, head on to ASIFA!

Blog Action Day: Pinups Fight Poverty

Last year I found environmental pinup girls. That’s how I knew that this year, I could find pinups that fight poverty.

This year’s Blog Action Day is here and I’m very exited. It’s a time for me to learn about our world and do something about its negative situations. Last year was the environment, this year it’s poverty. Instead of my feeble attempt to explain, here’s an exiting little video, the Blog Action Day team put together, to do just that:

You pumped? Want to know what the hell pinups could possibly have to do with poverty? Want to know how you, as a pinup lover, can help? Read On!

10 Reasons Why We Love Pinups

How do I love pinups and let me count the ways...

Yes, I sat myself down and asked myself why it is I blog about pinups. It’s so trivial, it’s so silly and so horny! So why then? Here are 10 fine reasons!

#10 The Detail

I’m a sucker for good craftsmanship. Most people are. As an art student you learn to appreciate abstract art and god knows I love it, but there is always a special place in my heart for that artist that can really draw convincing fingernails and get deep into the garter-clasp details.

#23 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Neo Pinups and Super Creeps

I was a bit hesitant to post this link, but it has so many gorgeos neo-pinups photography, I couldn’t resist. The reson I was so ambivilent is because, what you’ll see, when you go to the forum post, where this picture and many others were found, you’ll also find the ugly side of pinup lovers. Some “ho”, some “bitch” and other ignorant, misogynistic shit, a shame.

By the way, my favorite is the Betty with the cigaret hanging from the side of her mouth. Laugh

#15 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Brenda's Babes: A Pin-Up Collection

Brenda's Babes: A Pin-Up Collection was started by a pinup collector by the name of Brenda, who entered an online video contest, to win $20,000. All this happened over a year ago and Brenda won the $20,000, but she hasn't updated since. We lucky pinup lovers, however, are left with about four months of Brenda's constant pinup posts. It's a charming time capsule, go ahead and take a look. (Maybe if enough of us visit, Brenda will reconsider and return to blog about pin-up babes Winking )

#11 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: A Dark Roasted Blend of Vintage

Dark Roasted Blend

Dark Roasted Blend is one of the top 500 Technorati sites. Though it's not specifically about pinups, they have an extensive collection of vintage articles and images. This is what Avi and Rachel Abrams, its originators, have to say about it:

The "Dark Roasted Blend" is ...dedicated to the on-going quest for wisdom and beauty, for all things cool and wonderful in our world, and beyond - in the spiritual realm.

As for you, pinup lovers, you will love marvelous compilations, such as The Glamour of Flight series, the Lovely Ladies of Yesteryear series, the Girls & Cars series, Ladies & Robots and Barbarella & Other Ladies in Space (don't forget to check out The Pinup Blog's own Pinups in Space).
