#22 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Paul Richmond's Cheesecake Boys

Amidst all the over-sexed media there are few non-pornographic havens that capture an old innocent feeling. In the tradition of the 1950’s damsels in underwear distress, Paul Richmond’s Cheesecake boys are exactly that. A collection of sweet, clumsy, sexy men. Richmond is a fine artist and illustrator, a proud gay man and an activist. Inspiring and fun, go have a look at his online studio.

Beefcake Twins are En Vogue

After writing last week’s cheesecake article, I was challenged at Digg, to find the beefcake twins. Knowing how hard it is to find beefcake at all, I rose to the challenge.

Where’s the beefcake?!

Apparently there just isn’t as much demand for male twins as female twins. This sailor image is the only vintage image I could find and it’s quite uninspired. I mean, this photo is so asexual could have been taken by their mother!

Fear not, my beefcake twin hungry mongrels! I’ve managed to hunt down a few modern day beefcake. It seems that twins have more fun than regular male models. Maybe it’s in the already playful nature of a twin photo shoot? Who knows.

#10 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Tim Curry is Just a Sweet Transvestite

Last time I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show I was too young to understand all the delicate nuances of this film. But one thing was for sure: I adore Tim Curry! His opening song had every bit of influence on me, as Jessica Rabbit's. This is not just for my GLBT readers (though I did think of you Laugh ). Curry has the voice, body and poise to create a mesmerizingly sexy burlesque performance. See for yourself, the sweetest transvestite bombshell to ever grace the silver screen.

Gay Men Still Produce the Best Beefcake

Between the 1930’s to the 1960’s Beefcake was at it’s hight. Very popular in gay circles and very much in the closet- sold as health pamphlets.

It’s not easy to find beefcake. Not even on the internet. And even when you find it, it lacks the luster and playfulness, found in it’s female pastry counterpart. I’ve searched high and low for male pinups and managed to find a few gold nuggets worth your attention.

The Pinup Shop Update: Lesbians Love The Pinup Shop

After Being interviewed by Lesbiatopia's Paula Brooks, I noticed a comment left on the article, by Lesbiatopia's Editor in Chief, Renee Gannon, saying:

"I want to be a pinup girl!"

Well, of course, I couldn't resist and had to ask Renee to model for me. Renee's my already infamous Valentine's pinup for 2008. She was so pleased, she decided to write another article about me, on Lesbiatopia. Of course, no one could be happier than me about that. So go check it out!

I'm always on the look-out for new models, so if you're interested, get some more information at The Pinup Shop 'Get Painted' page.

I'll make you a pinup girl, too,
Sig Pink

The Bare Facts About Pinups

Looked down on by scholars, pinups have always been perceived as pop- art, at best, and vulgar commercial illustrations or even pornography, at worst. I propose we take a closer look at the bare facts about pinups.

Postmodern art has given way for some strange, questionable works. From Marcel Duchamp's “Fountain”, to John Issacs' grotesque sculptures. Many people will ask in frustration: “That's art?!”

A lot of people feel the same way about pinups. Being part of the postmodern era, I believe that anything goes and that everything means something (and as such means nothing, but that's for the postmodern blog to decipher Winking ). So I took it upon myself to analyze a pinup painting, in the most basic ways, and see if I can find out a deeper meaning to pinup art.

The Bear Facts by Gil Elvgren

This is one of my favorite pinups of all time and Elvgren is one of the most prolific pinup artists of all time. When conjuring up the image of a pinup girl, we usually imagine one of Elvgren's girls. But let us look at her with unbiased eyes:

Pinup Art Leads the Diversity Revolution

Sexual art is usually underground or very niched. Because of this, artists throw all inhibition away and correct the politically incorrect. There are no holy cows in the pinup business, just beautiful pinup girls (and boys) of all shapes, sizes and sexes.

Hard to find but worth the effort

It's true that if you do a Google search of the term “male pinups” you wouldn't get much of that retro beefcake fun. Not to mention the poor results on “African American pinups”. But if you look deep and maybe throw in a couple of names, you will find Dorothy Dandridge and a handful of naked men (not together! Winking)

Sexual art (A.K.A. “pornography” ) has never been subjected to the cultural snob's censorship. What's the point? Smut is smut, right?

Wrong!
