Manga and Anime Pinups - More than Big Tits and Big Eyes

Manga and Anime is ripe with unaware good girls and deliberately sultry bad women. This is a short salute to my personal favorite artists and characters.

Manga (‘comics’ in Japanese) and Anime (‘animation’ in Japanese) are not just “those cute girls with big tits and big eyes” (as demonstrated to the left). Although there’s a lot of that, and the Japanese are known to let go of all sexual inhibition, when it comes to their illustrated entertainment. I believe Manga and anime are a fine art, with many styles and agendas. After all, you wouldn’t say all Western comics are about super heroes, would you? Winking

The Pinup Shop Update: Good Girls Gone Bad

I just couldn't hold her back! This sweet wife and mother wanted her pinup portrait extra badass. The motorcycle, the leather, the works. She also told me she wants the name of the piece to be Hell On Wheels- I just couldn’t refuse her. Winking Of course she's the sexiest mama around and makes hot biker chick. I guess sometimes, good girls just want to go bad.

#32 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Respect to Miss-Vintage

There are many retro/pinup/vintage blogs out there, but only a select few make me feel all fuzzy inside and bubbly with excitement. Miss-Vintage is one of these top sites! So the first thing I did was add it to my blogroll (on the sidebar under “Expand Your Pinup World” ). And now I’m telling all my beloved readers about it. Miss-Vintage is a wonderfully designed and professionally executed vintage fashion site. There’s tons to explore, like interviews with original glamor girls, a comprehensive vintage fashion timeline, an incredibly thorough Encyclopedia of Vintage fashion Icons and so much more you could explode! Go there, bookmark it, and go back often!

Inspiring the Pinup Look - Time Traveling to the 1950’s

Pinups of the 50’s didn’t just spring out of midair. These images reflect their times. (as all art does.) So I set out to find authentic images that will shed light on pinup art.

Those Cool Cats

teens1958 Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman Girl-1950's

The 50’s, like any time in history, weren’t as carefree as you may imagine. Most people worked hard, African Americans were struggling and really, the only ones exuding that familiar Happy Days/Grease carefree glamor were the teenagers of white suburbia. They were fashionable and fun-loving and like many post-modern generations after them, they were to be icons who reflect their times (missing some historical facts in the process Foot in mouth ).

I’m always on the lookout for eco-friendly companies. For all you environmentally conscious glamor girls Enamore Boutique is the eco-friendly retro clothes brand, creating all garments out of organic and sustainable fabrics. As you can see, they’re retro, but have a modern chick to them. My personal favorite being the adorable polka dot sleep mask (no it’s not a bathing suit top Laugh ).

Beefcake Twins are En Vogue

After writing last week’s cheesecake article, I was challenged at Digg, to find the beefcake twins. Knowing how hard it is to find beefcake at all, I rose to the challenge.

Where’s the beefcake?!

Apparently there just isn’t as much demand for male twins as female twins. This sailor image is the only vintage image I could find and it’s quite uninspired. I mean, this photo is so asexual could have been taken by their mother!

Fear not, my beefcake twin hungry mongrels! I’ve managed to hunt down a few modern day beefcake. It seems that twins have more fun than regular male models. Maybe it’s in the already playful nature of a twin photo shoot? Who knows.

#16 The Bi-Weekly Bombshell: Torrid Retro Plus Size with Flare

I've always said retro is for all shapes and sizes. Lately I've stumbled on Torrid, which is a U.S. wide clothing chain for the big and beautiful. Now they're online, as well. And really, the pictures say it all. A lot of thought goes into these designs, and although Torrid isn't all retro, it's got a lot of it. Even though it has nothing to do with size, Torrid got me with their crazy feathered hats, I'm definitely ordering me one of those! Laugh
