FlashParade is a
magnificent artist, who does a lot of
what can be easily classified cartoon
pinup art. The artist’s cute subjects
are very feminine and dynamic, and loads
of fun. Good art and good pinup. Enjoy!

Over two years of The Pinup Blog and,
surprisingly enough, we’ve yet to touch on a
very pinup-esque theme: The zodiac.
Women as allegory
came up in last
week’s post. Today is all allegory
with Zodiac Pinups. Though traditionally
woman have been used in the images of the
Virgo sign and often Aquarius, this week,
we’ll be focusing on complete series of
women as zodiac signs.
#10 Fantasy Zodiac Pinups
Probably what you’d
most expect to see out of a woman zodiac
series, but surprisingly not the most
commonly found on the net. Soft and
meticulous fantasy art, with kitschy
mystical touches. It’s less overtly sexy
and focuses more on femininity.
Something for the whole family
In dramatic scene, tough and even evil,
it’s the sexy Easter bunny fantasy gone
awry.
One of the most
common fantasies in cyber space, the
sexy bunny, has endless Google results.
While the typical sexy Easter bunny is
just a poster girl, on the sweet side
and often a Playboy cliche, I’ve run
into a more fetishistic bunny, this
year, which I’m more than glad to share
with you.
Here’s something for
you vintage world explorers. Komiklopedia is a
brilliant site dedicated to vintage
Philippine comics and memorabilia. There’s
lots of buffed up beefcake and distressed
cheesecake to see, so take your time and
enjoy the ride around the globe!

fix in your pocket!
It seems pinups

to fit right in your pocket. The Pinup Blog

pinups, you can take anywhere!
Oh, the wonders of

Anthropomorphic neo pinups! You’ve got

The Pinup Blog is ecstatic to create a
tribute to the Gibson Girl. And it’s about
time, too!
By the end of the
19th
century, Charles Dana Gibson conjured up
the “Gibson Girl”. The Gibson Girl, in a
sense, was a byproduct of Gibson’s
satire work, but her beauty overpowered
the American audience and she soon
became the first national standard for
feminine beauty, in America. Her
distinct style made her iconic, and her
signature big hair and hourglass figure
are easily recognizable.
The new year is upon us and so are the
calender girls!
Calenders are the
traditional display method for pinups. What’s
new in 2010? Many good causes and a lot of
good art. Ladies and gents, I give you The
Pinup Blog’s top 10 pinup calenders!
#10 Vintage Cowgirl Pinups Wall
Calendar
CafePress is full of pinup calenders and it
was hard to choose between them. We start our
list off with this
themed vintage cowgirl calender. Each
image is a collage, mixing up classic pinup
cowgirl with typography and some vintage
ornaments. Simple and sweet.
Winter is upon us and it’s time for the
pinups to cover up! (Or at least hold an
umbrella...)
It’s getting cold
and grey in my part of the world, and I’d
like to greet the coming season with all the
beautiful winter pinups (and beefcake) I
could find.
The Baseballs - Umbrella
Cover
It’s great to start with a little Rockabilly
beefcake. The Baseballs are a German
Rock’n’Roll cover band. They take modern hits
and turn them into 50’s styled hits. This is
their Version of Rihanna’s Umbrella.
Lauren Moore creates
these meticulously designed and diverse
cartoon pinups, which just happen to
make fantastic stocking stuffers. So
keep them in mind, because I know you’re
already doing your Christmas shopping in
the US. For your convenience this
holiday season, you can find Lauren’s
Hellcat Honeys here and
also here.

It’s a tough
search, but somebody’s got to do it! For some
reason, turkeys are not the typical animal to
accompany a pinup image. Nevertheless, I’ve
managed to find some pro-turkey holiday
cheesecake!
Classic Pinups- A Vegan Peek at
Sexualized Speciesism
I thought we’d
first take a look at the problem. Yes, they
are gorgeous, and girl-next-doorsy, and
goddamnit- that’s Marilyn Monroe! But I can
only hope that the classic pinups with this
message have gone extinct:
Is
that a carcass on your platter,
Umm… Is this
theLeave
it to
Lady, You could be Marilyn
or are you just happy to see me?
Turkeyset?
Monroe, for all I care, just
get the gun outta my face!
This meticulously
drawn, wacky, neo pinup was created by
the phenomenal Brian M.
Viveros. Dark femme fatals with
bondage gear and random accessories are
the name of the game, and the results, as
seen here, are stunning. I couldn’t help
but compare with Jaime Hewlette’s Tank
Girl, of which I’m a huge fan, so this
is double fun for me, and I hope for you,
too.

One of my favorite
creators at DeviantART, Elias
Chatzoudis, has just created this
little busty statement, in favor of breast
cancer awareness, missing my

decided to pay him tribute, after the
fact. It’s a beautiful cartoon pinup and
deserves our awareness.

This was not the first time men had
admired pin-ups of physically non-existent
fantasy women, but certainly the first time
they would ogle a 3D
representative.
Although
video game pin-ups have existed since
the revival of interest in consol games,
in the mid 1980s, most consisted of
cartoonish depictions of various scenes
representing the game’s story line; Such
as Nintendo’s hero, Link, from the
popular Legend of Zelda franchise,
slaying a multi-headed dragon, or a
whimsical forest scene of Sega’s Sonic
the Hedgehog. The classic pin-up genre
featuring suggestively posed women was
introduced to video game art posters in
1996 with the inception of the British
company, Eidos’s Tomb Raider series,
starring who can now be credited as the
first massively popular digital sex
icon, Lara Croft.
Breast cancer isn’t a very lighthearted
theme, but if there’s one theme that’s
perfect for pinups, it’s their tits. This
week (this month to be exact) on The Pinup
Blog: Pinups and breast cancer
awareness!
Rethink Breast Cancer
Starting out with a little retro fun, here is
Rethink
Breast Cancer’s ad for the Fashion
Targets Breast Cancer t-shirt. Both
organizations are aimed at young adults;
While Rethink Breast Cancer are
responsible for some controversial
ads, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer
have super-model spokeswomen, the likes
of Gisele Caroline Bündchen and Claudia
Schiffer.
It’s The Pinup Shop’s and Blog’s second
birthday and it’s time for the top 10
articles, you pinup lovers loved the most! I
won’t spoil it for you, I’m just proud to say
that diversity dominates this list.
Before we start,
here’s a personal celebration message from me
to my beloved readers (courtesy of RattleBox):
While the wholesome folks at Disney
keep our children at a safe distance from
luscious cleavages and male nipples, you
guys go back home and elaborate on the
fantasy. This week on The Pinup Blog:
Brilliant, sensual, Disney pinups!
The up and coming
Princess and the Frog, reminded me of
all the times I saw an elaboration on a
Disney character. Disney’s men and women
become icons and are instantly
recognizable, thus making for fantastic,
sexy pastiche. But before we delve into
the world of R-rated Disney mock-ups,
let’s take a look at Disney’s own
subliminal sex appeal, to the left. It’s
amazing what context can do.
You gotta love a Disney pinup. Always
proper, tits never too big for her
waist line, big innocent eyes,
virginal. Even with those restrictions,
Disney always manages to get away with
a hefty cleavage, but this year, they
took it up a notch with The Princess
and the Frog. Stepping it up with the
sexual innuendoes, and my favorite bit-
diversity. The story is based in New
Orleans of the 1920’s, which makes for
a rather shameful historical
inaccuracy. On the other hand, Disney
has a bit of a shortage of ethnic
heros, so the randomness of the
princess’ ethnicity (unlike Princess
Jasmine or Mulan) is very refreshing.

Artist and
visual designer, Wendy Ding,
created the fantastic Food Girl

images, involving food. This one
is by far my favorite, as the
Pringles become accessories of a
fan dance, and if you don’t look
carefully, you may miss the chip

beautiful style at her website

It’s actually more rare than you
think. The teacher fetish is a classic
fantasy, but when you look for classic
images, you might be surprised.
The teacher
fetish is one of those natural
occurrences. Young boys, in their
teens, won’t be able to ignore the
refreshing sight of a good looking
educator. If a boy was lucky
enough to actually have an
attractive teacher, odds are he’ll
remember her fondly, for years to
come. Thus the teacher fetish is
born. I made every effort to avoid
porn and keep it classy. It’s a
challenge, but someone’s got to do
it.
We’ll start off with a vintage
soundtrack, to get you in the mood:
Frankie Avalon’s Teacher’s Pet:
“Since the dawn of time, the
promise of our charms has been used to
urge our men into battle. We are called
up to rally behind our troops, and to
give the boys something to take their
minds off their job: WAR. Those times
are over.”
These lovely
words are those of Pinups for
Peace. A grassroots organization
promoting peace with a sexy, retro
edge. You don’t need much to be
pinup for peace, just show up at
your nearest love-fest,
demonstration, or strike, wearing
your nylons and garters and hold up
the sign:
“Burlesque not Bombs!”
The group’s site shows that there
hasn’t been much activity since 2008.
As my readers know, this cause is dear
to my heart, so I thought I’d give it a
boost, and remind all you pretty ladies
to get out there and fight for
something that’s really worth it!
Beach balls, ice cream and polka
dots. Today’s post is all lighthearted
fun, with a lineup of my 10 favorite
summer pinups!
#10 Pinup Girls of
Summer
Aerosmith’s videos are full of naughty
girls not giving a fuck. Here’s the
version of this narrative, updated for
the 21st century, to
get you in the mood
What does Elvgren’s girl next door
have to do with Masuimi Max’s tattoos?
It’s all a web of pinupology. Watch the
evolution as it happens!
The pinup girl
evolution isn't, a linear one.
Like most genres of art, each
school would interpret it
differently, geography would
change the aesthetics, and post
modernism- and much more recently-
the pluralism of the internet
would implode any possibility of
linearism. My goal then, in this
article, is not to create a time
line, but to follow the
evolutionary branching out of the
rare and beautiful species-The
pinup.
They come in all known genres and
fetishes, the only difference is that
you can’t pin them up. Introducing
pinup sculptures.
Pinups have been named as such, for
their function rather than their
content. Today, however, I think it’s
safe to say that pinup is more than
something you… well... pin up. It’s
fashion statement, it’s an aesthetic,
it’s a lifestyle. And now, it’s highly
stylized and glossy sculpture!
Above, you can view the damn fine work
of Mike James. A
multi faceted artist, James does
photography and drawings, as well.
His sculptures are an idealized
blend of cute and muscular.
A great single
find on Euphoria
Magazine. The page is filled
with fantastic retro shots, but none
like this Betty Boop lookalike.
There’s something so completely
disturbing about this photograph, I
thought it’d give you all a laugh
and a giggle. The effort,
nevertheless, is incredible.

Hot Rod is very much an art form.
It has to do with restoration of old
vehicles, so it’s easy to see why the
artists are usually male. And where
there’s a male hub, there are always
sexy ladies.
Gil Elvgren - Vintage Feminism and
the Origin of the Hot Rod Pinup
It
may have completely happened by
mistake, but we can trace the
traditional hot rod pinup way back to
the early 50’s. When Elvgren took them
out of the home and into the car. I
love the few examples, where the
Elvgren pinup is daintily, yet
competently, handling the car, or the
one, where she’s the competent driver.
They’re pregnant, their hot and
their not afraid to show it. It’s the
top 10 hot mama pinups mother’s day
special!
Ever since
Demi Moore, sexy mamas are
everywhere. They carry a whole
baby in their body, 24 hours a day
and they still look gorgeous. This
is a tribute to all those sexy
mamas that won’t let a little
thing like hormonal imbalances
cramp their style.
Sometimes I find one of these little
gems and there’s nothing else to them.
This is one of these cases. I can’t
even find the original post that
featured this image. But the blog it
was featured in was pretty damn
cool, even though it had nothing to
do with pinups, except the blonde
bombshell to the left.

These sexy femme fatals fooled
many, this April fool’s I’ve got a
lovely collection of pinups that are
not quite what they
seem.
It’s that annoying day of the year

practical jokes, but I
do like a healthy dose
of mystery in
my pinups. These are the pinups that

dress!

bombshells, for your viewing

everyone. So grab a beer and lets

#10 CafePress’ St. Patrick’s
Pinups
Cafepress is always stocked

all in green.
Pinup graffiti, cheesecake tattoos

Beefcake searches always leave me
wanting, especially at Christmas time.
Could it be that only gay men consume
beefcake?
Last year I
nominated the
top 10 Christmas neo pinups. I
thought I’d see what beefcake had to
offer in that category. It’s a short
list this year. As always, a search for
beefcake is much tougher, as they seem
to be scarce (in relation to their
female counter part). Always leaving me
asking that age old question: Where’s
the beef?!
I’ll start off with this excruciating
Shawn Connery, to the left. I don’t
know what the hell the man was
thinking, but there you have it. I know
this isn’t a Christmas themed beefcake,
per se, but he’s so festive in that red
fetish get-up... Just look at him as my
Christmas gift to you.
