It’s been two and a half years since I
started The
Pinup Shop and The Pinup Blog, and
without a doubt it’s been an incredible
journey. I’d love to be sure of myself and
assuring, and say “I’ve reached the
journey’s end and arrived at my
destination”, but life is more miraculous
than that, and what seems to be the end of
this path, is just the beginning of
another.
While
my life has changed very dramatically, in the
past year, I found that it’s very
possible to merge my love for pinups and my
other interests. Pinups aren’t just a pretty
face, and despite what the art form seems to
be at face value, I’ve learned it can be read
and understood in many ways. Viewing politics,
feminism and
moral issues through pop culture gave me
a whole new perspective on the world around
me, and I can only hope you found it as
fascinating as I did.
That said, I’ve found that lately my heart is
asking for something else. And though I can’t
say what it is yet, there are only so many
hours in a day. The time | put into The Pinup
Blog and The Pinup Shop doesn’t allow me to
search for this something. It’s for this
reason, for the time being, I have to stop
working on the blog and the art, and begin
working on something else. I don’t know if
I’ll come back to work on the pinup project,
but I don’t want to throw away all that I’ve
done and love, and I know that many others
love as well. So I leave both the blog and
shop online, for your pinup pleasure, and
hope you visit my other
online gallery (there’s lots of
non-pinup sexy ladies to see ).
Kisses to all of you,

Recent events in
Israel (where I was born, raised and
reside) and Gaza have led me to much
soul searching. The pinup to the left is
indeed one that I conjured up. Some of
you have noticed that it has disappeared
from the shop. I was uneasy with it,
when I had created it, a month ago, and
rethinking the situation: I just can’t
have it in my shop anymore.
Being an artist, however, I do think it
important to make a statement. And being that
my work is featured publicly, I do think it
important that I should take full
responsibility for my actions. As such, here
is what I’ve done:
I apologize here and now for supporting
violence andnationalism.
I’ve graffitied
this pinup to make a new statement of it.
This new statement, which I feel is much
more in line with my personal beliefs, is
on sale at
my other art shop at
Imagekind.
I’ve erased the
original pinup from my shop, all social
media sites and my hard drive.
I erased all
articles about supporting the troops. I
support them as people, but not as the
bloody hands of governments.
I can only hope
that all these acts can help in bringing the
atrocities of this world to people’s
attention.

The Pinup Blog has been awarded The
Butterfly Award, by Bobbie Dawn!
Denina Simmons, author of the blog says
The Pinup Blog is the coolest blog she
knows, which is very flattering.
Her Blog, Bobbie Dawn, is

This is slightly off the topic of pinups, but
I’m hoping you’ll forgive me. I've entered the three
images above in the Art Interview
competition. I'm quite exited, this is
my first art competition ever! One of
the criteria for gaining points is the
public vote. This is where you come in.
I need your votes!
If you want to help, here's what I need you
to do:
1. Go to http://www.art-interview.com/competition_gallery.html?my_page=6&query_start=76
2. Look for the above 3 images. (they should
be first on the page)
3. Under each image is a pulldown menu that
says "rate it".
4. Click the arrows and give each image a
rating. (a 10 would be very appreciated
)
5. If you can pass this message along to a
few friends, that would be a huge help!
Thank you so much for your help,

Know everything there is to know about
glamour girls? Have a burning desire to write
about pinups? Need some good, solid promotion
for your fabulous retro site?
Become
a guest author on The Pinup Blog!
Every tuesday, I publish
a full-length article on The Pinup Blog. I’m
looking for some serious writers, who can
muster up 500 words (or more) about pinups,
retro fashions, the 1950’s, or anything else
that’s relevant to the pinup niche.
Next Tuesday could be your
article!
Why should I bother writing for someone
else?
The Pinup Blog is a one-woman
operation, but has a respectable following
that is constantly growing. Having your
article posted on the blog is a great
opportunity to get your name out
there and establish yourself as an expert in
the colorful field of pinups.
Here’s some stats, so you can see, for
yourself, if it’s worth your while:
Average unique visitors a
day: 507 (according to
eWebCounter.)
Average page views a day:
857 (according to
eWebCounter.)
Average unique visitors a
month: 15,725 (according to
eWebCounter.)
No. of Pages: 190
Daily RSS readers:
(according to
Feedburner.com)
So, other than the fame, what do I
get?
Unfortunately, I can’t afford to pay
you, but that doesn’t mean we can’t engage in
some mutual back-scratching.
As a blogger, I know the importance of links,
first hand, so here’s what I’m offering:
Your name will be featured at the top
of the article and will be linkable to a
site of your choice.
An author box at the bottom of the
article with three additional links.
Thats 4 links to sites of your
choice!
That sounds great! What do I need to
do?
It’s easy, all you have to do is:
Write a 500-word (or more) article
about glamour girls, girlie art, pinup
painters, or anything you think may be
relevant.
Tell me what site you want your name to
link to.
Write an Author Box, including 3
additional links. (an author box can
include a short biography, or just straight
out links- it’s up to you.)
Just letting all you
pinup lovers know that Blog Action
Day is tomorrow and I’ve got a
special post planned. So, for the cause,
I’m postponing this week’s article for
tomorrow.
This years issue is poverty, it’s not to late
to join! All you have to do is register your
blog, write an article about poverty,
copy/paste a tiny piece of script and publish
tomorrow, on October 15th!

The Pinup Shop
and Blog are one year old. I know it’s
customary to do a best moments recap, but I
thought this would be a great opportunity to
cover birthday pinups, in a Pinup Blog
fashion. But first- a song:
The Hindu show that pinup art can be
spiritually inspiring.
Update:
Dear loyal readers,
I’ve got my bags packed and I’m all
psyched. I’m going to India tomorrow!
Don’t worry your pretty little heads, The
Pinup Blog will be updating regularly
(courtesy of my beloved brother), but I
won’t be here to respond to comments and
emails. I’ll be gone for about a month and
a half and when I’m back, I want my inbox
exploding, you hear?!
Anyway, I thought
I’d get all of you in the mood with me,
and cover a bit of the more modern Hindu
paintings of Hindu goddesses. (The
artists are never mentioned. So if you
can fill us in, don’t hesitate to leave
a comment or
email me.) These paintings, as you’ll
see, are quite realistic, and are
stylistically inspired by western commercial
art. They are sold as postcards and stickers,
and are intended for mass consumption. The
Hindu worshipper can pin them up in his home,
his shop, or his shrine and they would be
just as sacred.
Devi
Devi is the female aspect of the
divine, quintessentially, the core form of
every Hindu Goddess. She is the female
counterpart without whom the male aspect,
which represents consciousness or
discrimination, remains impotent and void.
Every other goddess is a manifestation of
Devi.
Linda
Lowen is a former, award winning,
broadcast journalist specializing in
women's issues. Lowen’s blog at
About.com, Linda's
Women’s Issues Blog, deals with
important women’s issues, such as
violence against women, women’s lower
pay in comparison to men’s, sexual
issues and many more. In her article,
Using Women's Bodies to Sell - Pin-Up Girls,
Objectification of Women, and
Self-Objectification, The Pinup Blog and
myself have the distinction of being referred
to, many times. Lowen raises many valid
points, that I grapple with every day. Of
course, yours truly just
had to reply, so go
check it out and maybe add something to this
meaningful conversation, I’m glad to be a
part of.

I’m totally stoked!
Last month Holli-Mae Searle, the
editor of21st Century
Pinup, a print magazine,
featuring todays finest neo-pinups and
burlesque stars, contacted me for an
article. The May issue is all about pinups
around the world. I represented
Israel, of
course. Socheck
out my article(just flip to the last 3
pages)!

I don't get to say that
it enough, but now I can say it,
officially! Tracee Sioux of
BlogFabulous thinks this blog and
The Pinup Shop
are so fabulous, she just had to post them
on her blog.
The press for the blog and shop is starting
to accumulate, so I've added a Press
page to the shop, as a tribute to all
the people who decided to take the time to
write about me. Drop on by and look
around.
Busy being fabulous, be back soon,

A fine article written about my retro girlie
art at
Lesbiatopia, a blog by lesbians for
lesbians. (I knew all this cleavage was good
for something ) It's a marvelous review
and also part interview, by Paula Brooks
(a.k.a Paula The Surf Mom)- The Pinup
Blog's first, and I'm doing cartwheels
with joy.
Go check it out!
