Burlesque Pinups- The Dancers, Singers and Comedians of Sexy

Burlesque has taken many forms through the years, but one fact always stayed true: The female form.

Last week I talked about cartoon pinups and added some videos for your viewing pleasure. After a second watching, I noticed something linking all these unforgettable cinematic moments- A song and a dance. These cartoon women didn't only look good, they made for memorable entertainment. They all reminded me of a fabulous art form, enjoying an enticing revival- burlesque.

I’m Not Bad- I’m Just Drawn That Way

Long before Jessica Rabbit uttered that immortal line, even cartoon pinups were struggling. Today the animated cheesecake has gone through some changes.

In the 1950’s sex wasn’t so obvious and trying to air sex was very illegal to almost impossible. In Come Max Fleischer and Tex Avery to kick some sexy into kids cartoons. I can still hear J. Edgar shutter in his grave.

The Pinup Shop Update: Lesbians Love The Pinup Shop

After Being interviewed by Lesbiatopia's Paula Brooks, I noticed a comment left on the article, by Lesbiatopia's Editor in Chief, Renee Gannon, saying:

"I want to be a pinup girl!"

Well, of course, I couldn't resist and had to ask Renee to model for me. Renee's my already infamous Valentine's pinup for 2008. She was so pleased, she decided to write another article about me, on Lesbiatopia. Of course, no one could be happier than me about that. So go check it out!

I'm always on the look-out for new models, so if you're interested, get some more information at The Pinup Shop 'Get Painted' page.

I'll make you a pinup girl, too,
Sig Pink

The Veil Fetish Pinup

A lot of noise has been raised in the feminist and Muslim communities over the art of Makan Emadi and the appearance of a new “misogynistic male fantasy”: Veil Fetish.

The Pinup Shop Update: The Pinup Shop is Fabulous!

I don't get to say that it enough, but now I can say it, officially! Tracee Sioux of BlogFabulous thinks this blog and The Pinup Shop are so fabulous, she just had to post them on her blog.
The press for the blog and shop is starting to accumulate, so I've added a Press page to the shop, as a tribute to all the people who decided to take the time to write about me. Drop on by and look around. Laugh

Busy being fabulous, be back soon,
Sig Pink

Pinups of the Silver Screen and Women’s Magazines Keep Classic Cheesecake Alive

Some say that pinups were a 40’s-50’s fad, which disappeared with the sexual revolution. I believe pinups, in their sensual yet none reviling form, are alive and kicking.

Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Ritta Heyworth (the list is long) we’re all documented in photographs, later to be printed out in magazines, postcards and calenders. These were considered glamor pinups, at the time- very different from the anonymous pinup, which would be found, more often, in men’s magazines (the kind deemed offensive). For this reason, exactly, I want to exhibit these specific shots, which could have been very much the anonymous cheesecake, if it hadn’t been for their famous silver screen face, gracing it.
