I usually make my own magic lists, but I
stumbled upon The Huffington Post’s Lesley M.
M. Blume’s “6 Of The World's Most Beautiful
Older Women” and just couldn’t agree
more.
I don’t know if
I’m getting older, or older women are getting
more beautiful, but without a doubt, today,
there are numerous beautiful women who
respect their aging nature. Lesley M. M.
Blume, who wrote this list, said it
beautifully:
“...these ladies know better than to try
to look like you're 20 when you're 50. The
real trick: to look like a beautiful
50-year-old when you're 50.”
I loved Blume’s list and thought
it was right on. So in the name of
non-plastic aging and the appreciation of the
diversity of all that’s beautiful in this
world, here’s the embellished
list of 6 Of The World's Most Beautiful Older
Women:
#1 Helen Mirren
Helen Mirren, 64,
always had guts, when it came to
choosing her roles, but also taking off
her clothes. From the sweet and innocent
young lass in
The
Age of Consent to to the sultry and
depressed wife of a sadistic tyrant in
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her
Lover to the tough and introverted
detective on Prime Suspect, Mirren always
carries herself with a very attractive
dignity. And of course she’s the perfect
woman to open this list, as part of the cast
of Calendar Girls:
#2 Iman
I remember the first
time I saw Iman (54). I was in third
grade in the States and our music
teacher decided to screen Do You
Remember the Time. After giving up
figuring out if Michael Jackson was a
man or a woman (not a cheap shot- I
really wasn’t sure at the time!), I
became completely infatuated with the
perfect African queen (then almost 40!).
Iman’s long neck, beautiful features and
deep voice really broke all stereotypes
of what a princess should be. Iman’s age
is practically impossible to guess- no
embellishing needed.
#3 Carmen Dell'Orefice
Wow! That’s all I
can say. Wow! This is the first time
I’ve heard of Carmen Dell'Orefice (78)
and that is just a face to launch a
thousand ships. She was beautiful back
in the day and she is beautiful now. The
world’s oldest working model has a posh
grace and elegance that demands respect.
The style is perfect, the posture is
perfect and that face is perfect.
#4 Anjelica Huston
Some may debate as to Angelica Huston’s (58)
beauty, but no one can contest to her
character. Bold and opinionated, Huston’s
hard edged features are always refreshing and
the images of her always dramatic.
#5 Sophia Loren
With her dazzling face and delicious
hourglass figure, Sophia Loren (75) is, of
course, a classic pinup of her time. At 75
Loren still plays up her sexuality and shows
off her gorgeous legs and sports a hefty
cleavage.
#6 Gloria Steinem
Though Gloria Steinem (75) probably would
object to her objectification, there’s no
doubt she’s “a chick with a good sense of the
vibrations”. A feminist icon that used her
good looks for good instead of evil, and was
brought to prominence by going under cover as
Playboy Bunny and exposing the treatment they
endured. This is what a feminist looks like,
and she’s gorgeous!
#7 Geraldine McEwan
For my own addition
to this list, I wanted to surprise. I
turned it over in my mind, and Geraldine
McEwan (77) is my choice of a sexy older
lady. Mostly known to today’s audience
as Mrs. Marple, I caught a glimpse of
her in the not so memorable romantic
comedy, The Letter. It took me a few
minutes to realize that the hip, sexy
Miss Scattergoods is the clever ole’
Mrs. Marple (below 2:28-3:22). It’s also
a lot of fun rummaging through McEwan’s
older images, in which you discover a
beautiful and sexy pinup of her time.
