Firing up imaginations from the East to
the West, The Pinup Blog is proud to present:
Geisha Pinups

Geishas have always
been shrouded in mystic, in Western
eyes. If she was doing her job right, in
Japanese eyes, as well:
“Their purpose being to entertain their
customer, be it by reciting verse, playing
musical instruments, or engaging in light
conversation. Geisha engagements may include
flirting with men and playful innuendos;
however, clients know that nothing more can
be expected. In a social style that is
uniquely Japanese, men are amused by the
illusion of that which is never to be.” ~

There are hundreds, if not thousand, images
of Geishas, all over the internet. Let’s take
a look at the trends.
Neo Geisha
Not unlike neo-pinups, neo-geishas also have
an aesthetic based on goth culture.
Tattoos, corsets and piercing are the trend,
but also a not-neccessarily Japanese
ancestry, which brings a fascinating
diversity to the imagery. Taking old
accessories, like elaborate hair and flowers
and adding a touch of modern sexuality and
mayhem.
Adult Costume Geisha
It ain’t a sexy
cliche, if they haven’t made an adult costume
for it, yet. Here’s a few of eBay’s finest:
And here’s a delightful example of serious
costuming:
Warrior Geisha
The creators of Xena didn’t invent the
warrior princess. The Japanese had a handle
on that cliche, ages ago. In the West we can
encounter many variations. From the dainty
and vicious O-ren Ishii to the half samurai-
half geisha, Shi.
Celebrity Geisha
Celebrities have also marveled at the
wondrously accessorized realm of Geishas.
Stars like Bjork took it to a tribal extreme,
Madonna made it plastic and Kylie Minogue
made it pink.
Cartoon Geisha
Always adorable,
usually with an attitude, cartoon Geishas are
a wonderful take on this art form, adding
even more color and pattern.
Fan Fetish
Being a very common
accessory in ancient Japan, Geishas did use
it as yet another means of seduction. Today
the fan returns as a means of much more
blatant seduction:
The Nape of the Neck
Considered, in Japan, to be one of the ought
most of erogenous zones, much of the Geisha
art is focused at the nape of the neck. I
happen to think the nape of a woman’s neck is
fantastically sexy. What do you think? Does
this make you horny?
