Sexy pinups demonstrate environmental
awareness- an Earth Day special on The Pinup
Blog.
It’s not easy to find conscientious
pinups, especially in the environmental
department. But it’s already looking better
than
last year. This Earth Day, I’ve got a
great list of green beauties for you; From
animal rights, to energy conservation.
Another interesting project is the TyK (Thought
You Knew) and CWHC (Chicago Women’s
Health Center) collaboration. This
project is actually geared toward
healthcare, but it’s run by a group of
Chicago ladies that love to ride and I
thought may be appropriate. With the
help of CWHC, Tyk has created a
beautiful retro pinup calender with the
theme of bicycles. Following through
with TreeHugger’s thesis that just
supporting the notion that bikes are
sexy, promotes this alternative
transportation method, I put a spotlight
on these cycling beauties.
Pinups for Pups
Pinups for
Pups is responsible for some of the
most beautifully done neo pinup
calenders, out there. Models are always
gorgeous, the majority of which are
veteran specialist pinup models. And of
course! The pups! Pinups for pups is
there to:
“educate people about responsible pet
ownership through our events and example.
We work hard to raise money and awareness
for animal rescue groups, promote
responsible pet ownership and to advance
the practice of spaying &
neutering.”
Organic Sustainable Retro Fashion
I’m a huge fan of Enamore a retro A UK
based fashion label that creates
clothing, lingerie and accessories from
organic, sustainable fabrics. They have
lovely retro-styled photo shoots, as you
can see, and have great items- all
sustainable.
Pitbulls often get a bad rep, when, in fact,
they are lovable and playful as any other
breed out there. Discovery News did this
piece on Pinups for
Pitbulls. A group of 12 women,
including Discovery News' Kasey-Dee
Gardner, are releasing an annual Pinups
for Pitbulls calendar to raise awareness
and education of these lovable bullies.

Triumph’s new solar swimsuit, that will
be mass manufactured and soon be available in
shops near you. TreeHugger says:
“They will harness enough energy to charge up
your iPod or mobile, whilst parading along
the beach.“

for their Go
Green indicatives. This time, their
cheerleading squad issued a calender of
their own. The calender is printed on
post consumer recycled paper and
features the team's cheerleaders wearing
only eco-friendly swimsuits and
accessories. I’d like to add that it
looks like the girls sport an
all-natural, fit body. So it’s a 5
thumbs up from this nature nut.
Suicide Girls and Peta
Collaboration
The ultimate neo pinups, the Suicide Girls,
donate their beautiful tattooed bodies
to the ultimate animal rights group,
PETA (People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals). PETA’s
“Rather
Go Naked than Wear Fur” campaign is
one of its controversial ones (and there
are many), in which beautiful models and
celebrities get naked and strike a pose.

Last but definitely
not least, my
own environmental pinups. This is a
cause that we should all be concerned
about. Whether it’s the animal rights or
the global warming issues, I find I need
to do my part. Every once in a while
I’ll paint a pinup with an environmental
theme, as part of my cultural actavism,
to help get the message out. One of my
favorite things about Cafepress, is that
they offer organic cotton tees, that go
perfectly with my green bombshells.
