narrative, updated for the 21st century, to get

#9 Sexy Slop
Summer pinups are full
of not-so-subtle allegories. Dripping ice
cream probably takes the lead. Sometimes
humorous, and sometimes dead serious, always
glossy, and frankly, always causes me to
break out laughing.
#8 Not So Itsie Bitsie Tinie Winnie
Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
Retro swimwear is
all the rage this year. It’s all over
the net. Definitely good news for any
woman above size zero. Flattering
styles, with a bit of class and a lot of
fun!
#7 Sunflowers with Sex
Appeal
I found this single
image from Jessica Dougherty, titled
Summer. It’s a lovely more-subtle
allegory. Conveying the feeling of
summer, without the sweat & wet, but
keeping the naughties. For the more
faint of heart :p
#6 Baywatch Babes
Watching Baywatch one might be tempted to
believe that it never rains in L.A. Or maybe,
watching Baywatch, rain doesn’t really come
to mind. What started out as light,
action-drama programing, quickly morphed in
to cat fights and jiggly TV. High times for
Playboy channel fans, but I remember enjoying
rare moments of more attempted serious acting
and rounder characters, but hey, you can’t
win’em all.
#5 Beach Ball Bombshell
Beach balls
are actually a time-old accessory. Playful,
colorful, and graphically dominant. Once it’s
in the picture, there’s no question about the
theme of the image. As you can see, it’s been
used in classic pinups and is still a
favorite of the neo pinup genre.
#4 Classic Cooling Off
Before there were air conditioners, all a
poor over-heated girl could do was switch her
fan on and canoodle with her ice cubes.
Another reoccurring, favorite pinup theme,
you can see it from Elvgren to Hildebrandt to
modern retro fantasy.
#3 Anonymous Beauty
I stumbled across
this beauty accidentally, and I think
she deserves her spot. With aesthetics
that remind me of the late 1990’s
fashion catalogs, when mix & match
was all the rage, and a wink to 1970’s
style. You can feel that this is a late
summer afternoon, and almost sink into
nostalgia that isn’t your own.
#2 Vintage Car Wash
Before it became an overblown, oversexed
phenomena on you tube, Joy Harmon gave a
daring performance in Cool Hand Luke.
Sometimes understated, typically of the
1960’s, and sometimes down right vulgar,
hinting at things to come. I wonder what the
scene would have looked like without the
intercuts of the sweating prisoners?
#1 Sensual Neo Pinup
I just love this
one. It’s all liquid, with a daring
choice of color and lack of color.
There’s something incredibly fetishistic
about the textural bathing cap, which
makes this image stick out, out of
thousands of mid-orgasmic nudes. It’s so
perfect, I’m not even missing the waving
hair. Perfect summer shot.
